ALso how can I change the name of the printer as now my dhcp server gives only a * as name (apparently the printer/scanner doesn't advertises its name) and for setting Try scanimage -L and read the backend's manpage. I am unable to locate cndrvcups-common, scangearmp-common and scangearmp-mp270series in synaptic. Now, firing up /usr/bin/scangearmp brought up the UI properly and a test scan worked well.

Can you please check? I marked that for installation. Not sure why or what is going on. Step 1: On the PPA's overview page, look for the heading that reads Adding this PPA to your system.

Printer installs, but scanner will not be detected. If not, is there an upcoming release that will support 15.04?

There's a ppa repository that provides the official drivers of Canon printers and multifunction devices which are not available on Canon's website. printing works (im guessing, haven't tested it). shell> adduser
found the cnji by scrolling… printing works fine now.. Suggestions? mx320, mx330, mx340, mx350, mx360, mx370, mx390, mx410, mx420, mx430, mx450, mx510, mx520, mx710, mx720, mx860, mx870, mx880, mx890, mx920 series. I'm having to work around by emailing to iOS and printing from there.
Sane found my scanner and I used the default software from Ubuntu to install my printer. He is also an open source/Free Software enthusiast, Web Developer and an Optimist. Tried all the tutorials, shaking my head on this one. Creating content regularly is very tough. Added the printer via "Printers". Scangearmp does not appear in does not appear in Synaptic Package Manager.
